We enjoyed a wonderful sunny day in the town of Pafos. We started off by visiting Aphrodite birth place (Goddess of love)Logan threw pebbles into the sea at Aphrodite birth place. It was said that she came out of the sea at the big rock.
We moved on to the Tomb of the Kings. Ironically there are no Kings buried there. It was said that officials of high rankings were perhaps buried there.
Afterwards we set our sights for a castle at Pafos waterfront as there are apparantly there are a few castles around. Bingo we found it. Carl and Logan slept in the car under the shade of some trees while Jordan and I set foot for some sightseeing.
It had such a quaint European feel as we walked past all the restaurants and cafes overlooking the sea as we edged our way towards the Castle. Quite unusual having a castle positioned at the edge of the prominade overlooking the sea. Picturesque to say the least.
Jordan and I paid our dues and climbed up some narrow staircase to surface at the top of the castle. It had a gorgeous view over looking the cafes and bustle of pedestrians below and the great mass of blue, embracing it rocky girth.
Ironically I found some white sand (probably some limestone residue) at the top of the castle for Jordan to play in. As he sat there intrigued by the feeling of the white powder he stroked, as he ran his fingers thru it back and forth.
After soaking up the view from this 1500 century building standing timelessly in our modern world adorned by moderness in it glory of yachts and speedboats below. We made our way down the narrow staircase that had been reinforced with some newer materials for support. We meandered back down the prominade towards the car where Logan and Carl were zizzing away the beauty of sun and sea, but not before making one quick stop into the art market.
I am so glad I did because there I discovered some unique photos specially processed and printed onto thin sheets of wood. I chose 2 photos of scenes that captured the essence of Cyprus. I bought them for Jordan's room. The one setting was of war forlawn motorbikes outside a shed. The artist personally told me that the owner of the bikes hauls them out of his shed daily and puts them outside his shed and probably tinkers on them or uses them for spare parts. The other setting was of a moped outside a blue door and blue shutters of a Limassol apartment. The blue shutters are Very native to Cyprus.
I also got a beautiful cross section cut of a sea shell necklace for Logan. She was captured by its beauty and delicate ness.
Carl and Logan joined us for a stroll further down the walkway and we finished our stroll off with a mouth watering ice cream as we enjoyed the last rays of sun.
