The next couple of days are all about the mammoth trip from Melbourne to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road. We left Melbourne early on Sunday for our 300k road trip to an overnight stay in Port Campbell.
The Ocean road is stunningly beautiful, long winding roads with the waves crashing on the rocks for much of the journey. Progress was very slow due to the recent flood damage, fallen trees and land slides, we were restricted to 40k per hour - snail pace.
We had plenty of scenic pit stops for coffee along the way taking in Torquay, Lorne and Apollo Bay. We had a longer stop at the stunning 12 apostles although the weather was dreadful, wind, rain, hail. It was all quite terrifying with a couple of trees down en route so we were pleased to arrive at Port Campbell seven and a half hours later!
Our accommodation for the night was a gorgeous remote cabin looking down the hillside to the harbour. We ventured out for a bite to eat, then headed back to our warm & cosy cabin!
Tomorrow is another day of scenery and driving - we are ready for warmer climes & sunshine now!
