Our last day on the Gold Coast.
I'm in the bad books with G, having missed the Singapore Grand Prix by a week, we arrive here to discover the town taken over by the GC 600 V8 super cars racing weekend - oh dear, he thinks it's a conspiracy. The circus really does roll in to town, a huge infrastructure with stacks of people from the racing teams, media & fans - quite glad we are leaving, although the cars are very loud & pretty cool! We sat in a bar with a beachside seat for the drivers parade, after sunset very chilly. We were surrounded by racing fans, pretty standard, shorts, racing t shirt & cap, Oakley shades & beer. Cue the parade, lots of vintage cars with racing drivers perched on the back, lots of women with not many clothes on!!! Couldn't resist having my photo with the bear lifeguard, swimming safely is a huge thing here so just helping to spread the message!
We had a great time on the Gold Coast, probably my least favourite destination but my favourite hotel. It's been a great place to reflect back on our trip & catch up with some much needed down time but I don't think we will be back!
Back to Sydney for a last evening with G's family and then the long slog home. Looking forward to seeing the dogs, can't wait, let's hope they recognise us!
