Ciara & Esther on tour...
Hello to every one and greetings from Khao Sok, Thailand.
Its an absolutely beautiful place as its really off the beaten track. its bordering on the jungle. we arrived here this morning very early and i mean very early... we left Bangkok last night at 6:20 by train and it was a 14hr journey here so it was fairly tiring.
Was sad in one sense to be leaving Bangkok because there is some great characters there. the locals come up to you in the street and plan your entire day by a Tuk Tuk (which is like a motor bike). the Tuk Tuk drivers are a bit on the crazy side are desperate con artists. but sure you meet them everywhere.
On Saturday myself and Esther went to see the Grand Palace and you would nearly go blind looking at it cos it's nearly completely made of gold. it was very nice thou. we saw plenty of Buddhist monks (like a hundred all walking one after the other) and were even fortunate to witness the election ceremony of the new Thai government. It was good to get a bit of culture in even thou we nearly passed out with the heat as we had to were a long sleeved top and long trousers. but i thought it could have been worse cos I'm convinced that the monks have a desperate farmers tan going on...
Bangkok was also a bit smelly. lots and lots of bad smells and a sever pollution problem. that's why I'm delighted to be in Khao Sok as it is the complete antithesis of Bangkok and very laid back. were staying in a little hut with very little mod cons but it is beautiful. we're having a very lazy time here and spent today kicking back and tubing down the local river. twas very relaxing. But I'm really excited about tomorrow as myself and Esther are going elephant riding for the morning. Can't wait.
Will email again soon,
Ciara and Esther
