it's me again ;)
the last two days i did a great ocean road guided tour ... in the picture above you see one of the most fascinating places on the road ... these rocks are called twelve apostels (some say there are only 10, some count 12 ...)
so leaving melbourne in the early monday morning we made a short stop for the morning tea at bells beach where surfing is very popular ... after that our awesome guide took us on the great ocean road to some spectacular places ... we saw some koalas, stopped a awesome look outs to watch the coast, had lunch in a small village, had a bushwalk through a rain forest where we saw real real real big trees (so called giant trees, which can be several hundred years old), we saw the twelve apostels, the london brigde (london brigde is a rock formation which looked like the london bridge until the year 1990, then suddenly one arch collapsed ... fortunately nobody got injured, but two people had to be rescued by helicopter from the now sole rock without any connection to the mainland ... the collapse just happend, when a group of tourist passed it ... the funny thing about this story is, that the two people (male and female) were the first days heros in australia, were invited in talkshows etc. but the press found out, that these two persons had a affaire together although they were married to other people ... was a big storie in australia) ... in the evening we drove through a big area (grampain nationalpark) which had to suffer from a big bushfire 14 months ago ... the park is about 179.000 ha big, and 45 % were distroyed due to the fire ... we had to drive carefully, because of the kangoroos, who could jump out of the bush onto the road every time ... after our arrival in a really nice hostel we had a short night bush walk to watch out for more kangoroos, they are nice animals, not really shy but can get angry if you disturb then too long
today we had once again get up early in the morning and on the way to our look outs through the national park we could see the real big damage on the forrest ... every tree was black, it looked not nice, but nature recovers there, the trunks get green (looks like a green pyjama for the trees, our tour guide had never seen that before) ... the animals also come back to these park (unfortunately many koalas died in the fire as they are very slow animals) ... but nature recovers quite quick there but the villages has to suffer from the lack of tourists ... after going to 2 real nice places i had to leave the group because i was travelling to adelaide by coach (another 6,5 hours by bus) ... tomorrow i will start my last big adventure here in australia, an 8-day outback tour from adelaide to alice springs ... sleeping in camp sites, one night underground ... i'm really looking forward to that tour (but don't ask for the price *g*)
cu you soon, hope everybody enjoyed the long weekend in austria
