Christina´s Extraordinary Adventures Abroad!
Ok folks I know...Its been a week...so here goes....Oh and becuase the computers today are ultra slow the pics will have to wait till tomorrow...or if you have facebookt
Wednesday July 12th:
Today after class we went down to Plaza de MAyo again to try and get into the Casa Rosada for a tour...remember this is the presidential palace that is in alot of my pictures. The last time we went last Thursday it was full. Well this week was the same....and apparently the only time the English tour is offered is on Fridays but you have to be there by 2:00 to make a reservation for the day of...well we have class till 2:30...so who knows when we are gonna see that. We ended up going to the Catedral (Cathedral) next to it to see the changing of the gaurd there. Inside the Catedral are the remains of a famous General equivalent to our George Washington...a revolutionary hero. At the doors of the room are guards dressed in full uniform and completely still...random people were walking up all the time taking pictures next to them and they just stood there without even flinching...and I of course was one of those random people...haha. We waited around there forever to see the changing of the guard that we had heard about...then it finally happened...it was pretty kewl...but a bit over rated and NOTHING compared to the changing of the gaurd at the Tomb of the Unknown in Washington, D.C. But it was worth sticking around for. After that we just headed home...we have discovered that Rush Hour here takes on a whole new meaning when your in a BIGGER city and having to ride PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION!!!...just imgaine standing so close to someone on a subway or bus and feel them breathing down your neck...UGH...GROSS...So we pretty much have decided to try and avoid rush hour at all costs by either coming back to our side of town earlier than 4:30 (which never happens) or not coming home till around 9...which we normally choose the later.
Thursday July 13th:
Today was a nasty day...again...have I told you how much I HATE the weather...LOL...no but seriously...everyone pretty much didn't want to do anything...so that is exactly what we did...NOTHING....well untill the night...then Drew and I went to see the Broadway Musical The Producers...in spanish obviously...it was sooo good! At times I was getting a headache because they were talking soo fast but it was really funny and good. And plus drew and I, a bunch of poor college students felt like ultra wealthy people...sitting on the 5th row next to fancy dressed men and women...it costs about 65 pesos....equivalent to about 25 dollars...lol. We had fun.
Friday July 14th:
Ok soo I wasn't going to but today I skipped class again!! I know slacker...but I just get soo burnt out going to class 5 days a week for 5 hours a day....its madnes I tell you!! LOL...so I skipped...but its not like a slept in or anything...I don't know if I've mentioned it or not but they have numerous channels here in English and every morning I have made it part of my routine to watch Third Watch from 8-9....Im not gonna lie...it helps me to get up on time each day...even if Im NOT going to class...LOL. Oh and I would really like to know if that series is available on DVD back home...because Ive officially become addicted...and mom I know I know...just one more show I have to watch...lol...but at least this one isn't on the air anymore!
SO....after my lazy morning...I headed up to the school to meet everyone after class. Drew and I went sight seeing a little more before meeting everyone up at Plaza de Mayo to head to the Tango Show at the World Famous Cafe Tortoni...one of the oldest cafes in Buenos Aires. We had to make reservations because the place is soo popular! There we had the best wine I have ever tasted. Im normally not a big wine girl...especially red wine...but this particular kind was soo ¨suave¨ or smooth in english. So we drank our wine and watched an amazing Tango show. At first I just though it would be dancing but no it was an entire show. With singing...by this guy with the most amazing deep voice...think Sean Connery without the British accent...hahaha...then there was a pianist, a cello player and an acordian player (all Tangos need an acordian). There were 3 tango couples...and this random dancing guy...he did like a tribal tap dance..absolutely amazing!!...the tango dances were sooooo HOTT!! Like I have said before...my future husband will have to learn the tango before our wedding!! LOL...and you think Im kidding...Well the show was awesome and one of the tango dancers inparticularly was so hot!!...after the show they all came out into the audience and I of course asked for a picture...there are some times when I couldn't care less about acting like a tourist...this was one of those times...lol So I got a picture with the hot tango dancer and the singer with the hot deep voice...I was a happy camper!! LOL...After that we all hung out for a bit but called it a night early because on Saturday we were heading to Colonia Uruguay....
And...I will have to finish this update tomorrow...it is now 9:45 and I still haven't been home for dinner...hahaha...crazy I know. So anyways...tomorrow I will finish and put up the pictures...
I love you all so much and miss yall!
