I took my final bus to Cairns where apart from my tour to Cape Tribulation i saw out my last few days in Australia. Due to not much sleep and early starts my first few days were filled with relaxing by the man made lagoon, going souvineer shopping and catching up on some well earned sleep with a gheko above my head.
I had another very early start for my cape tibulation tour after my couple of nights in cairns. Cape Tribulation is where the wet world hertitage rainforest meets the great barrier reef. On the way up we stopped of for a short rainforest walk, was warned about the leef which is like 100 bee stings at once and takes years to get over, then took a refreshing a paddle at a river. We met a pritty crazy aboriginal guy there who stole some guys water (which was quite funny) and didnt stop saying my name (quite annoying). Further up on our journeys we took a crocodile tour aalong a river and saw crocodiles in the wild including the famous fat albert who was lazing on the shore a full 5m long. The guy who was ''controlling'' the boat kept bumping into the shore where the massive fat albert was laying and kept blaming the wind while we were all on edge waiting for it to jump at us. After an amazign ice cream, including one called wattle seed which is australian and takes like a mocca we headed off to our accomodation for the night. The accomodation included child sized bunk bed and didnt include cutlery or plates so me and the guys odered in some food and decided to get some bottles of wine and spent the evening chatting and laying outside watching the sky change colours in the sunset, before i (now named granny) went to bed at 11 in fear of falling asleep at the table.
The following day i had booked myself on a horse riding trek through the forest and onto the beach. I was so excited about this trip, and had been looking forward to it for so long, that obviously something had to go wrong. We took a wonderful morning trek and made it onto the beach where we in our groups of 4 (mine being the beginners trek) went for a run! My horse was a right pain and i really didnt like him. His name was morgan and was incredibly lazy and kept pulling me all over the place and walking off which didnt put us on good terms. When we first tried to run my horse just wouldnt go. He decided to trot the whole way and i couldnt kick him that well because my feet were falling out of the stirrups so i just held on for dear life. The guy behind me also had to go at a trot becuase i was slowing him down a bit and he couldnt really coltrol his horse either, which decided to go into the sea! We tried it again on another track in the rainforest but he was still being lazy. On our final attempt my leg stirrups got shorterned so i had better leverage and i got taught a whipping action with my rains and we prepared to go again. I was third in the line of 4 people and on 3,2,1 we were off. It felt amazing! I felt like i was in a movie, the wind rushing past us as we flew through the rainforest, we were going soooo fast and everything was going right untill....... the guy behind me lost control of his horse. He was shouting whooooh and then started screaming stop. His horse then tried to over take mine on the outside which we were warned must never ever happen, as the horses have an order and it could cause injury or the horses will kick out at each other. I saw with a slight tilt of my head his horse was almost on mine and then the bloke behind me was flung off about 3 horses length infront into the side bushed. He had got a compound fracture with his bone stricking out his leg and his foot dangling the wrong way. His horse had also trampeled the back of mine which had the largest lump of skin torn away, hanging of the back of its leg and it was bleeding everywhere. I then felt quite nauseous. An air ambulance was called, people sent of for help and i was left with my staggering horse, who to start with i didnt like, now i felt very sorry for it. It wasnt that well dealt with as we were left amongst horses and i knew from previous experience you should stand behind one incase they kicked out but there was no where else to go. We got moved on eventually, i was put on the injuried guys horse, my horse was strapped up and left to hobble back to the stables and we all rode on for a quick drink and then back to the lodge. Eventful! Back at the hostel i went and took some time out on the beach before meeting up with the friends i made and relaxed by the pool. We got picked up later on and transfered back to Cairns where i was exhausted and keeping up with tradition fell asleep at 9, very early!
The following day was another filled with relaxing, before my final big finally day, my bungeee!!!!!!!!!!! On arriving at the AJ hacket bungee place we were kept waiting for a long long time. Finally on my go, i climbed the dreaded strairs to the top of a 50m platform. It does sound that high but when your at the top looking down, well lets just say it was a very long drop! My nerves had gone but i was a bit scared of the distance but on a count down from 5 to 1 i flew off with all my might. What happened next im not quite sure, i seemed to have lost my memory for the next 9 seconds but there was falling and then getting plunged into water and back to reality. The feeling was amazing, a mixture of relief and excitement, and when laying down after being picked up by the boat looking up at the distance you just willingly paid to jump, i felt quite proud. I had managed to fulful my childhood dream of travelling to australia and doing a bungee jump while out here. Not many things could make me feel as happy as i did then.
That evening in celebration of my last night i met up with ben, my travelling buddy who was also leaving the following day and went out for a massive meal to celebrate and then went onto meeting other friends i had met in cape tribulation for goodbye drinks.
So in conclusion to my final blog, i hope you have enjoyed following my adventures its been great knowing people have read them. I have loved travelling the east coast of australia and will be one of the most amazing things i have done in my life, meeting many amazing people along the way. The past 6 weeks have flown past and i hope to have more adventures in the future but for now im looking forward to seeing everyone again, and a good cup of tea. Cya all soon xxx
