I arrived in Cambodia on the fast boat, which was definitely a good idea as it meant that it was still light when I got to the city. Aboard the boat I met James a London Barrister who is working/travelling for a bit. In the evening we head out for dinner and then to the Elephant Bar in Raffles Hotel Le Royal which was just amazing, a little bit of luxury. The next day we head to a spa hotel for a massage and by having a treatment we could use the pool all day, a great little haven in the middle of the city. Time to say goodbye to James and do some sightseeing.
While in Phnom Penh it is the end of the Kings Funeral, the city had been on a national holiday for 4 days, on the last day it is the cremation, everyone is in black and white, the city is full and there are some great fireworks. It was an experience being there at this time and although everyone was saying how busy it was, compared to Vietnam the city is pretty empty.
During my time in Phnom Penh I spent some time exploring the city but it is very hot and I have now taken to having afternoon naps. I visit the Killing Fields which was moving but really interesting and the S-21 prison museum which was just horrible and not really my thing. I meet up with Marianne again and then its time for me to head off to the beach.
