Hi everyone, I've made it to China!! I left Sapa, Vietnam the other day and came to China with Tony and Angus. I was hopeing for a little trip across the boarder and into the first stop in China which is Kunming, the capital of the Yunann provence, which on the map doesn't look like a long way.. how wrong was i!! We arrived in hekou the boarder town only to find out that Kunming was a 12 hour over night bus trip away! That 12 hours were some of the most frightening hours of my life!! We had a sleeper bus so we were led down at the back of the bus wedged into the smallest bunk i have ever come across only to be scared witless by the ride!! I was sure at times the bus was going to tip!! But i've made it to Kunming alive and well. The city is really nice, it's very clean and quite quiet for a big city. traveling through China is proving more difficult compared to the other places i've been to so far just because of the language barrier (next to nobody speaks english out here, so we have to learn chinese... god help us!!) but i really like it so far. We're leaving Kunming today because there's not much going on here and we're going to guilin this afternoon, we're getting the train which takes... wait for it... 20 and a half hours, if it runs on time!! HAPPY DAYS!! I knew China was big but I really didn't realise China was this big. Sorry there are no photos yet but i can't seem to find a computer with a usb port to put my photos on the site, but i'll keep looking and hopefully they will be on the site soon so keep checking them out.
