Picked up at 08:45 and taken to the dock where we were met by our guide for the day, Chim. He told us that there were only two other people on our tour! We had to wait as a rain storm passed before boarding the speed boat and heading off, in company with a youngThai couple. The weather had been quite windy and the sea had a short swell which meant that the boat trip was quite bumpy but after about 30 mins we arrived at an island nicknamed Paradise, just as the sun came out! What a place (see the photos). A tiny little bay with crystal clear green water and heaps of fish. We stayed and snorkeled for half an hour before continuing on to Hong island via a short stop at a little beach on an isthmus which wasn't very interesting and it rained. Hong island is quite a reasonable size and we were dropped off on one beach from where we walked across an isthmus to the most amazing bay. We immediately set off snorkeling and spent ages up until it was time for lunch. We saw fish of all kinds, including schools of parrot fish, angel fish, butterfly fish, wrasses, gouramis, cat fish, and heaps of others that I didn't recognise! It was just amazing. For lunch we sat at some tables in the rainforest behind the beach and were given little containers of rice, chicken, egg and a spice packet which we had to mix together ourselves. It was very tasty and that was followed up with fresh watermelon and pineapple, and the famous Krabi Cake! This is a bit like orange cake and very, very nice! We chatted with the young Thai couple and were astonished to find that he is a brain surgeon and his wife is also a doctor and they had been married only two days and this was their honeymoon! They seemed too young! After lunch we snorkeled some more before finally departing at around 2pm. We were then driven through a narrow entrance into the most beautiful lagoon which is only accessible by boat at high tide and is surrounded by cliffs and forest on all sides, as well as being a habitat for mangroves. The water was sooo green and it was just amazing (see the photos). The trip back was much the same as the trip out and we were ferried back to our hotel by around 3pm.
We had a short rest and then went off to have dinner. We had decided to go to the Ao Nang Seafood restaurant which overlooks the beach. Just near there Sue visited a tailor whilst I was getting money changed and to cut a long story short, she ordered some thai silk pyjamas to be made for 2500TBH (around $80)!
Dinner was excellent and of a very high standard (tiger prawns)! We vowed that we would have to come here at sunset before we go home!
