Just a brief blog for Nimh Binh. We stayed 24 hrs on the way to Hue, mainly to see Tam Coc.
We hired a motorbike to get around the town. We drove out of the town a bit and saw some gorgeous sites. Eventually we arrived at Tam Coc, where you hired a rower and a boat to take you down the river, through 3 caves. We went in the afternoon on recommendation that it would be quieter and the vendors would be less 'enthusiastic'. When we got there, a bus load of tourists had just arrived, so we held back for about 10 minutes to let them all go. It was a good move as when we ventured down the river, we hardly saw anyone else. We did see lots of other people looking a little harrassed on their way back and we soon saw it was becuase there is a 2nd rower, who has a massive box of goodies they want to sell. Poor souls, they had no where to escape! For some reason, we only had the one rower, so no harrasment for us :)
The rowers are experts at rowing with their feet, which was pretty cool to see. We went through some pretty cool caves on the 2 hr ride. It was worth the stop-over.
Next...back on the sleeper bus to Hue!
