Bangkok & Temples
Phra Nakhon, Thailand
First two days in Bangkok have gone so fast and we've already seen so much. Most of the time we have been visiting Wats and Temples in and around Bangkok which are incredible and we're hoping to see more as we travel north stopping off in towns on our way to Laos.
We've been out in Khao San Road which is fun but so touristy so we've avoided that since. Street food is a big hit with us, especially Pad Thai as it costs about 40p and is super tasty and very filling.
Before we came out here I read so much about being scammed at every opportunity but (touch wood) it just hasn't happened. The Thais are so incredibly friendly and this really is the land of smiles.
The plan for tomorrow is to head to the floating market which is a couple of hours from Bangkok and also to go to another market afterwards which is based on a train track, sounds pretty mental.
1 more night after tonight in Bangkok and then we are going to head north stopping off at Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Sukothai, Chang Mai, Pai, Chang Rai and Chiang Kong before heading into Laos. Some of those towns are just outside national parks so we will be doing some trekking and elephant treks, especially in Chiang Mai which has some stunning scenery as it is set amongst mountains.
Loving the start of the trip, I'm hoping it's going to get even better!
