Hiya Everyone.
So, quite a long flight from the uk. 11 and a half hours... but everything was on time and we even blagged some fantastic emergency isle seats as there were no other seats together left. The flight went quite quick with all the entertainment you receive and with a few hours sleep inbetween we arrived here in no time.
After collecting our bags we grabbed a taxi to the centre of Cape town. The taxi looked all official and used a metre which we soon realised was a mistake as the metre was going round rapidly. Leason learned. Always agree a price.
We arrived at Ashanti lodge in a place called green point in the middle of Cape Town around 1pm. We checked in and had a good chat with the guy here who gave us some good advice on where to go and how to stay safe. After a nice lunch we set off for table mountain. The guy at Ashanti had suggested getting some food from the local supermarket and having a picnic at the top. It was nice and hot when we set off with clear skies but on arrival there was a covering of cloud on the top. (Just like a table cloth). To get up the mountain you have to go up in a cable car which rotates 360deg and is really steep. We both nearly chickened out !
After a short que we purchased our tickets and then set off in the cable car. After setting off and starting to move we both had to let go of the side bars which we were holding onto as the floor starts to rotate. A few minutes later and we were at the top. It was beautiful. You could see all over Cape town. After a short walk around the top we had our picnic, inclusive of a bottle of wine which we had no bottle opener and no glasses... so the cork was pushed into the bottle and was drunk Hackenthorpe style from the bottle.
Shortly after we had returned to the bottom we went around the coast to a little town called Camps Bay for a few drinks and then back to the hostel for bed as we had an early start the next morning as we booked on to do the wine tour.
