Day thirteen was our last chance to see some more of Venice and thankfully the sun came out. With that intention we headed off to see St Marks square again and walk the promenade.
Walking along the promenade you get to take in the view and watch all the boats going about their business. Being that boats are the only form of transport it's something different watching how they get stuff freighted to stores or how they pick up the rubbish. Even how they do the maintenance work on buildings using cranes on boats.
We walked through some different little streets again to get back to our B&B whilst looking at all the Venetian masks which are very beautiful.
We said our goodbyes to Venice and boarded the train to Milan.
The train trip to Milan was a little bit longer than our last couple but it gave us the chance to update the blog, look up some stuff for Milan and take in the beautiful scenery. The Tuscan scenery is much better than the that on Vline from Melbourne to Geelong.
The only thing that was annoying was Ryan's long legs taking up all the leg space. I am sure all the Italians are looking at him and thinking he's a beast of a man.
(Ryan here - I think they are just looking in ore at my manly beard or wondering when I might shave.)
Got to Milan which felt just like Melbourne. Again tried to follow the instructions from the hotel but of course they didn't help so we cheated and got a taxi. Which in the end was a good idea because it was a little too far away and I have a feeling we would have got lost.
As usual got to the hotel and pulled the packs off our tired backs and freshened up.
For a modern city our hotel certainly doesn't fit the bill. It's not horrible but the decor is pretty bad.
We went and had a really nice cheap dinner at a restaurant on the corner of our street and decided on an early night so we could start the day early.
