Day twelve and our last day in Rome as we move on to Florence. Made the decision to leave later and spend a little more time in Rome.
Disappointed that we were unable to go to the Villa Borghese museum (we needed to book our visit and it was booked out till the following week) we decided to walk through the gardens of the Villa Borghese and visit the Galleria Nationale D'Arte Moderna and the Maxxi museum.
Both were fantastic, very different from each other though. Moderna was contemporary art from schools of the 18th,19th and 20th centuries, and the Maxxi was multimedia, photography, architecture, design and film. The Maxxi building itself was amazing. Very different from the rest of Rome - modern and stands out.
By the time we had made our way through both of them it was time to head back to the hotel grab our bags and go to the dreaded Rome Termini.
Got to the terminal and again felt surrounded by so many people. We were the meat in a lions cage!
We decided to quickly buy our tickets through the self-service machines (which are great - the public transport is so much better than anywhere in Australia!) Oh yeah and I just wanna say even if Ry won't admit it, I am the queen of the map and public transport! I have nailed it every time we needed to get somewhere, b***** this walking around aimlessly and just taking a wild guess approach!
Anyway back to what I was talking about we had no idea where to go to catch the train and only had 15 minutes to find the platform. Finally got a little help and we found the train just in time.
Train trip went very quickly and before we knew it we were in Florence. This time the terminal was alright. Jumped on our bus which was packed and this time we successfully went the right way.
Desperately needing to do some washing, we decided that tonight was the night. A laundrymat was right near our hotel and so was a supermarket.
We purchased some breakfast items, and some really cheap beer - 500ml Peroni €0.80 - bargain! Grabbed our beer, a takeaway pizza and the laundry and had a romantic night eating our food in the laundrymat while washing our clothes.
Off to bed with the intension of getting up early to explore Florence in a day.
Signed
The most romantic couple in Florence!

Andrew Can't believe you overlooked the opportunity for some kind of Florence and the Machine pun! Maybe she spent lots of time washing clothes, eating pizza and drinking beer in Florence?
