YOU DON'T NEED EYES TO SEE YOU NEED VISION.....
An early start again, I decided to embark onto a city tour of Quito. I went to the Equator and stood 'straddling' it with one foot in the Southern Hem'shper and one in the Northern. It was a very strange experience. I have put some pictures on for you to see.
They did this water test thing where they poured water down a drain right on the equator line and it ran through straight downwards, a foot to the left or right however, and the stream changed from clockwise to anti-clockwise.....
It was flipping hot and I got some more tan/burn, it's coming along nicely now.
At the Equator there was a rather strange museum type place with some cute, alive Ginea-pigs, squeaking happily and not understanding that they were going to be dead and cooked rather soon.
I also had a go at the 'blow pipe' dart thingy. Yes, that was 'blow-p i p e'. I failed miserably (not like me) to hit the target though which was a young Ecuadorian child, ha ha.
We were then talked through an ancient art of head shrinking and mouth sewing of people who had been bad in the past, gross. There are some pictures. So watch out, I now know how to shrink your head!
In the afternoon I went to a couple of churches. 80% of Ecuadorians are Catholics and are big into the whole respect of the Catholicism thing. I just felt creeped out by the obessiveness and oppresiveness (too many s's there) of it and made the mistake of pointing at the roof and saying 'jesus christ, look at those sculptures', oopppsss, it just slipped out.
I was then invited to view a c*** fight (ahem) and a bull fight, which I declined. I paid the usual 10cents for the privailage of having a pee in a hole in the floor, which is always 'bring your own loo roll' and headed back through the town looking at the stalls and stalls of identical tat.
Actually, I didn't feel to safe in the town this afternoon. I felt people 'checking me out' and it wasn't because of my beauty, charm and witt, moreover my nice camera and back pack.
Safely back in the hotel, I have some time to update you guys, send some emails and relax (because I'm so stressed! ha, not)
Thank you to EVERYONE for your messages, you're all stars and I love to hear from you.
I have 3 days in Quito and then head down to Chile for a week. Slight change of plan, I'm now going to Argentina for a bit to meet some Austrailian girls that I met on the boat before heading to Easter Island on 21st June.
I hear it rained on Bank Holiday Monday.....
Who loves ya babes....
