A very tired me (sporting a swiss-made watch) has just returned to my Grenoble home. It's weird to think that this is my home base now and that I'm coming back from all the excitement of my break to my new French life.
It's so sad that the trip is over. We had such a good time last night partying literally right beside the Moulin Rouge until the wee early hours of the morning. After four hours of sleep, I said goodbye to everyone. So sad to leave "Team Gusto" so named because we "go for the gusto". Shout out to my contiki family: Jen, Natarsia, Brooke, Steph, Mona, Stephanie, Marnix, Nevek and James. It's amazing how much fun we had together in nine days!
At noon, I checked out of the hotel, and was confident in my thorough planning and studying of the metro map. But as the theme of this trip has been difficult transportation, you can bet it was not easy. As it turns out, the section of rail that goes to the airport train station was out of order for the weekend. Meaning that instead of taking one tram to the station, I had to take a tram, to a train to a shuttle bus (which took considerably longer than I had budgeted for). I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. In the end I made it to my train TWO MINUTES before departure. Oh well, all is well that ends well… we can just chalk it up to life experience.
Now time for some much needed sleep... back to reality (and an 8 am lecture) tomorrow!
I'll be posting pictures in the coming week once I get a regular sleep schedule again haha
