Kumarakam, Kerala, India
What a good way to begin my first blog entry. Lying is not a very good habit...especially twice.
One, although it says that I am writing this on the 23rd of December (My Dad's Birthday), I am actually writing this on the 20th of January 2011. I like to think that I can go back in time which is obviously not the case...though my dad will be happy because he's 29 days more younger.
Two, the cover picture is of a beautiful sunset in one of the Maldivian islands. This too is misleading as although it may seem like a beautiful sunset in one of the Maldivian islands, my camera decided to die so couldn't get the photo that I took. *pride*
All the lies out of the way, I was fortunate enough to once again rekindle my love for the backshores of Kerala using my favourite vehicle on water - a houseboat. You may think, is it a house? Is it a boat? Like saying box-on-wheels, its a well...house-on-boat.
Though only for a few hours, I was able to truely experience the beauty of Kerala as the water was so natural and the amount of wildlife that was there. Different fish, birds, crocodiles...humans.
The food was also brilliant as I saw it being caught by native Malayalees, cooked by native Malayalees and served by native Malaylees. Eventually eaten by a non-native Malayalee, Me.
All in all a perfect treat for my dad but I would recommend spending the night, watching the sunset and the sunrise against the leaning coconut trees.
Enough chitchat for now.
Love, Raina
