Hi guys!! Last time i updated i was in Luang Prabang on a free day, that afternoon i went temple spotting i saw Wat Visoun, Wat Aham and Wat May. Had a quiet evening i just had dinner together with the group. The next day we left early and took a 7 hour bus journey to just outside of Vang Vieng. We did our homestay that night with a local family. It was very basic, mattress on the floor, mozzie net and a fan. The bathroom was an asian style loo that was flushed by throwing a bucket of water down it lol and a cold shower. Sounds worse than it was because the family we stayed with were so nice! The village women made us dinner which was lovely and the children in the village sang some songs and showed us some dance routines it was great! In the early morning we left for Vang Vieng and arrived at 8.30. Me and Rob went kayaking that morning we paddled 8km for 2 hours (i got sunburnt lol) but the scenary was amazing! We met up with everyone at 14.00 and drove to the Blue Lagoon for a swim. It was full of local families having parties because Song Kran is about to start. Yesterday morning we drove for 4 hours to get to Vientiane which is the capital of Laos. We had our orientation walk but because it was the first day of Song Kran people were throwing water on every street corner and bar. They use hosepipes and buckets and water bombs it is so mental it's fun lol. We managed to see Wat Sasket, Hor Phakaew, Patuxay and the Presidential Palace without getting too wet. I really wanted to go to the bizzare Buddha park but no one else was bothered so i went on my own. I took a tuk tuk big mistake lol! Locals make a bee line for tuk tuks, i had buckets of water poured over me! I was soaked to the bone but was great fun! A women even gave me free beers as we drove past!! The reason they throw water is to wash away bad spirits from the old year so you can have good luck in the new year! So i have had all my sins washed away. In the evening we all had dinner together then i went for a drink. I made some new local friends at a bar close to the hotel and we drank in the new year together, i went back to the hotel and ended up joining the hotel staff for one more drink before bed! This all happened before midnight lol! Ok so to today! I was surprisingly ok this morning had my breakfast and then i will be hanging around until 13.30 when we will set off for the airport to fly to Hanoi! So next time i update i will be in country number 6!! Onwards!!
