Hi guys last time I updated I was in Shanghai and just been to see the locals doing tai chi, we had breakfast at a local steamed bun shop 12p a bun absolutely outstanding I'm gonna miss that shop! Whilst in Shanghai we also did yuyuan gardens, the jade Buddha temple, longhua temple which were so beautiful and peaceful. That evening we went to the island and to cloud 9 bar on the 87 floor of the hiyat hotel for a very expensive drink! But the views were amazing. We then set off to Howard's (our guide) hometown Xian by yet another overnight train, we got on really well with the locals on the train. After we arrived we did an orientation of the city walked around the Muslim quarter markets and then did a 14 km bike ride around the top of the city walls I can still feel the seat! That night we went to Howard's favourite karaoke bar where Gavin did an outstanding rendition of lady gaga poker face I have information that it has gone viral lol! The following day we did the terracotta warriors or the underground army of the first emperor whichever you prefer. It was truly incredible, we also had lunch with a local farmer who was there when the warriors were discovered Mr Yang. Took an hour to drive back so I think we all had a snooze in the van. Some of us were up for more exploring so we went to the great mosque which looks nothing like a mosque, it looks like a Buddhist temple in the Chinese style but all the trees were in blossom and looked so beautiful in the evening light, as the local believers were called to prayer. We had a dumpling banquet last night which was delicious but so filling I think I will be steering clear of dumplings for the next few days! Well that's me for now! We fly to Chengdu this afternoon we are off to see some panda bears!!! xxxx
