We hired a moped off of our hotel today rather than taking a tour so we can go off and explore. We drove up to the hill station at the top of Boker national park which is 37k from the town centre. The drive up was pretty amazing the view of the town and the salt fields :)
Boker national park has lots of old french colonial buildings at the top but unfortunately now some chinese investors have bought the park and are developing on it. At the very top is a giant yellow hotel and casino!! Redicilous. It wasnt what i was expecting to see in a national park.
We drove around and looked in the old buildings, went to the waterfall which we had to pay 50cent for and because of the dry season had no water flowing down it. We were pretty glad we disnt pay for a tour as it was pretty s***e!
We obviously had to pop into the monstrosity of a hotel to take a look and it reminded me of butlins!!
The drive back down the mountain was also very nice, but seriously people in cambodia do not know how to drive!!!
We then drove to Kep which is a little seaside town 30k from Kampot. We drove through the countryside passing lots of local villages and farms.
Kep was a bit of a disappointment. Everyone (the locals) were sat on rugs on te pavement eating their lunch, rubbish everywhere. They really dont care, literally rubbish everywhere!! I lost my sunglasses on route so we didnt stay for long.
The drive back to the hotel was hard because by now we were wind burnt and had numb arses.
Showers and a chill before we meet some friend of a friend in town for a few brewskies tonight
:)
