Wow! I'm in a small city north of Amsterdam called Alkmaar. Arrived yesterday after a VERY long travel day. Unfortunately, I slept most of the day. I did take a ferry across the river and visited a small disneyland looking market town. Did some shopping. They had a gouda factory that I could of stayed all day at. Bought far too much cheese. Now I have to lug it around Africa.
Today, I got up early and left for Amsterdam by train. It's about a 20 min ride. Spent the whole day there and barely saw it. I took the "canal bus" tour which was an easy way to see alot of the city. It rained all day or I would of done the walk (I swear). Spent about 2 hours in the RijksMuseum. It was amazing! Alot of Rembrandt but it had paintings from every Dutch painter. It was definately the highlight of the trip. Went on to the Van Gogh museum which was also awesome. And then on to the Anne Frank museum (house). It was cool but not so amazing as the art museum. A great history lesson though. I have lots of pictures but cant upload yet.
