I`m back from Easter Island. What a great place! I stayed at an amzing Hostel (Te` Ora) with a wonderful host - Sharon from Canada. Made you feel like you were at home. Her dog Michigan imediately knows the guests and becomes your guard dog. Arrived late on Wed night and took a walk down the road to a beachfront restaurant for dinner. The 1st full day I rented a 4-wheeler and set off to see the parts of the island that would not be covered by my tour tomorrow. It was very fun. I saw a bunch of Moai (statues) as well as an inactive volcanoe and many caves. Very cool day. After getting back to my room and washing the grunge from riding on dirt roads, I went to dinner at another restaurant on the beach and then to a show featuring Rapa Noi dancers. It was very upbeat and entertaining.
2nd full day on the island I have a full day group tour arranged. This is nice cuz I got history and explanations of everything. A great tour guide and there were only 2 english speaking in the group so it was almost a private tour. Saw many more Moai as well as the quarry were they got the rocks. There are over 300 unfinished Moai just at at the querry. The tour ended at an awesome beach were we spent an hour. Could of spent a whole day there! Went and did a little shopping after the tour and then my trip to Easter Island is bascially over. Its an amazing place. Now I`m in Santiago and then it`s road trip time!
