We had a fairly ok bus ride to siem reap, nothing exciting to report. We arrived to the most beautiful hotel called the landing point hotel. It was really new and a boutique hotel. They upgraded us to a massive and beautiful room and had flowers on the bed spelling out 'I love you' and swans made out of towels, and petals in the bath tub. If anyone goes to siem reap let us know they gave us a discount for it to pass on, it was fantastic!!!!! We walked into town and had a look around, went to the markets and had a massage. Had Mexican for dinner, yummy! Town was very touristy, they had a street called 'pub street' full of pubs and restaurants, lots to choose from!
The next day we got up really early for the sunrise over ankor wat. The night before we met a really nice tuk tuk driver so he arranged an english speaking guide for us (ask us if you want their details they were both fantastic and didn't cost as much as those organised by the hotels! Our hotel gave us an awesome packed breakfast and off we went. The sunrise over the wat was very spectacular! it is a HUGE temple, the largest in cambodia and surrounted by a moat. it is breathtaking to look at, it has a massive pyramid in the middle and surrounded by four other towers. it has a big wall around it and a bridge leading to the 3 gates. It was built in the 12th century and i really have no idea how they managed to do it without electricity and machinery we have these days! apparently elephants and ropes played a huge roll. We watched the sunset
