This blogs will tell the wonderful tales of our final OZ experience bus to Melbourne. After waking up to powerful hangovers, mart more so than me! we crawled to the Oz office for our departure at 6:00am or something stupid like that!
Finding out that our last trip was to be with our first female driver, our smiles grew, until we remembered our hangovers. :(
The first part of the drive saw us intoduce ourselves to the bus via a microphone at the front of the bus, and anything interesting about ourselves. Before long, we had made a couple of friends and understood our driver (Jane) and her particular Oz Bus methods, as they all like to do stuff differently. As we reach the capital of Australia 'Canberra', it became clear to us why Sydney and Melbourne are the places to be in Oz. We learnt the reason for this, and how Canberra was decided, we learnt alot about Australia's involvement in the world wars and more on that great English dude Captain James Cooke!!
We visited the war museum and the houses of parliment. This was a very thoughtful day, and whilst having some laughs at paintings, we also learnt some interesting things.
Jyndebyne was our next stop, and would be where we settled for the night. Amazingly, amongst the Snowy mountains there is ski-ing in the winter! I never would have thought it snowed anywhere in OZ? ha
It was a perfect scenery from our room, whom we shared with team France. Jeremy was a cool enough French guy, and became abit of fun. there was a couple of fit French girls also, but i cant remember their names. There was a girl from Cornwall also, and Amber a Canadian that we soon got to know. It wasnt that much of a party with these guys; and so we watched a film then went to bed later on.
Early the next morning, a fry up was waffled down by both Marti and I; a quick pack up again and we were back on the road. Jane was clearly a very enthusiastic bush walker, and really enjoyed setting us of to see the snowy mountains, lakes and forests. We walked an hour walk, and a couple of other 10min walks. Some pair of div's took about 100 photos, I swear, on crappy trees, close ups and allsorts, we just thought What losers!!
Once we had finished all the walks, lunch was in order, followed by our next journey to Lakes Entrance This night I tasted some Shark whilst marti tucked into a fat steak it was than proposed by many, for some alcohol and possibly drinking games. It was Jeremy, Amber, the British girl that me and marti played with. Ring of fire was the games, and oh isnt that game good. :) we had me hopping round the room alot, and the four of us finishing our drink! The clock stoke 12:00ish i believe, and the five of us sat outside wondering what to do next? so we ventured to the lake..., and chatted some more. Unitl the crazy Canadian Amber decided on a little bit of skinny dipping, thats right...fully naked in the ocean. Jeremy joined her and before you know it me and mart were breaking our skinny dipping virginity!!! another box ticked. A different experience I must say. We lingered here for a bit, freezing our butts off. Finally we decided enough was enough, and we venturerd back to our dorms...and sleep. :)
Next morning Jane greeted us with her knowledege of last nights happenings. How did she know? it was too early to ask, so we all sat on the bus in silence.
That day Jane took us deep into wilsons prom (national park) and showed us wildlife such as plenty of Kangaroos and emus. We discovered the beauty of Tim Tams (basically Penguins but bigger, and when i say Penguins i mean the chocolate biscuit) and then the beauty of Squeaky Beach. This was a surfers beach also, and meant loads of fun in the sea. Our last ride on the Oz bus was coming to an end. We had enjoyed our Oz buses soo much, and could only wait for the KIWI experience in anticipation. We were dropped of at or hostel for the night (Nomads) and waved good bye to the lovely Jane. This may not have been the funiest blog people, but it was a good 3 days to chill for a bit and reflect on the beauty of Australia.
