Bakau, Gambia
In December I went to Gambia with my family, at first I wasn't to sure about going as we had never been anywhere like it to be honest. The reason my dad even choose Gambia was just for some winter sun but it turned out to be a lot more than that, it turned out to be the best experience I have ever had! The people their have nothing at all hardly and this made me feel really greedy and selfish, also I found that although they didn't have much they were so much happier than people back home in England. The first night we were there we met some amazing people but the best people were sulayman Faye and ebrima kinteh! They showed us around like all of the touristy places like kackikally crocodile pool where we actually got to touch a real crocodile called Charlie, and we went to bijilo monkey park, abuko nature reserve, lamin lodge and various markets. But the best thing was seeing some of the real Gambia, me and my brother got to go to a local football match with sulayman and ebrima where all the locals were so funny and nice. And when the home team scored everyone ran out onto the pitch and crowded the player, it was really fun! Sulayman and ebrima also took us back to both of their compounds to meet all of their families, and in the way kids were running along with us and we handed out sweets and pencils. Meeting everyone was the best and also seeing how they all live was amazing, they both had one tap in both of their compounds in which everyone had to share. Everyone had jobs as well even really little kids. Sulaymans little boy was the cutest and he was so funny trying to walk around because he was only 10 months old. Visiting their compounds was my faviroute bit of the holiday. I am a very big Chelsea fan and I wore my Chelsea top and walking down the road everyone would call out a Chelsea player like drogba and ession! They love football so much there, on the beach they would always be playing it! I was really really sad to leave Gambia and I miss everyone there so much, I really really really want to go back this year! Going to Gambia is like the best thing ever and I advise anyone and everyone to go! You will have an experience you wont ever forget.
