Landing in Lukla was an incredible experience. From the window all I could see is a strip of concrete cut into the mountain- it looks impossible. Then as the landing strip went out of sight the plane dove sharply towards the mountain and the next thing I knew we were bouncing along the runway, going uphill before sharply turning to miss the wall at the end. Fantastic skill by the pilot and frankly I just felt relieved we made it. - No thanks to Uncle Simon's pre-trip support!
It was the first full day with the team and was nice to chat and get to know people a bit better! We only had a short trek to start and ended up 200m lower than Lukla in Phakding.
Sharing a room with the only Russian on the trip was interesting enough but got even more interesting when I had to show him how to use a sleeping bag!
