Day nine of Contiki!
The ferry trip from our hotel to Venice was punishment enough for those who had visited the pub the night before- Dylan not even making it beyond the hotel foyer.
A walking tour of the city introduced us to the major landmarks, St Marks Square, the Bridge of Sighs and the great canal.
Post-tour, Katelyn, Bec and I wandered the streets of Venice: shopping, sight seeing, and eating such copious amounts of gelato that Fat Katie shifted in her grave.
The long hours and the heat was exhausting, and by 5pm we felt more than ready for out gondola ride. Bottles of wine, and the additional company of Jay (I'd rather overlook Trey's presence), and delicious views of Venice from its many and winding waterways made it an exceptional circumstance to pre-drink before our enormous dinner.
From what I remember of this dinner, the food was immaculate, with the wine being more so. I know from experience that mixing wines is a poor decision and this didn't stop me, resulting in my proposal to Kellie to be my person, my trying to hook up with Bec, my yacking on the bus home (in a bag, thanks), and my consequential early night.
