Friday was the day I understood the train lines. After gym in the morning, I went into Brooklyn. At first it didn't seem much different - it looked like Melbourne. Then I walked to the Brooklyn bridge and came across an awesome park where these two old guys came up to talk to me on their daily walk. They were two mates probably in their 80's who were Brooklyn natives and walked through the park each day. Legends.
After the Brooklyn bridge I reached my destination which was a record store called Halcyon or something like that. I didn't walk out with any music, but I did pick up the Curtis Mayfield edition of "waxpoetics" magazine. Then on my way back to the train I thought I'd turn around and check out the port side. As I approached, some guys just finished shoveling ice off the road. I went to a little railed balcony-type thing just past them and saw a huge view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan across the river. Pretty amazing s***.
As the night fell, I was undecided as to what I might do, so I just got dinner and then kind of flowed over to the cinema cos I really wanted to see "The Adjustment Bureau". That movie was super awesome. Matt Damon.
In summary, today was up there to contend with the best strolls I've ever had in my life. Off to the Bronx tomorrow where Onee'sha is going to show me her neighborhood! Peace.
LEARN OF THE DAY: Brooklyn isn't as dangerous as it's cracked up to be.
