I had a great time in singapore - spent the first 2 days relaxing in the hostel and only venturing out into the unbelievable heat to buy food! We also experienced our first proper dorm - 6 in a room but when i say experienced it wasnt for very long as we arrived late at night after going on the singapore zoo safari and left early to meet our uni flatmate rachel. The zoo safari was brilliant - saw loads of animals but couldnt take any photos cos the flash would hurt their eyes!! aah! The main event for me was holding a boa constrictor!!!! very scary and very heavy but really gentle until it started making funny noises and getting closer and closer to my head (The handler had said that if he started to hiss, it meant he wanted to bite - not entirely reassuring!!!!) We spent the last 3 days with rachel, staying at her beautiful house - going to the zoo in daylight which was great fun and then heading out to Orchard road ( the main shopping area) for a wander round the thousand malls! 0r atleast it feels like that many!!! we had lots of interesting food - including sushi and something which was very similar to the steamboat and oh-so-goood!!! On 7th June, we flew out to australia and arrived in cairns!! Quite a strange place, weve now been here for 2 days and its very quiet during the day and then gets really busy as night! and people wander the streets with no shoes on!! we met up with a girl called imogen from our tour and her cousin camilla so we now a little foursome until we leave camilla in two days when we head down to townsville! tomorrow, we're heading onto the great barrier reef for some snorkelling! cant wait!!!
