Charly's Travel Journal
Early start this morning as I embarked on the 2hour train journey into the blue mountains. When eventually reaching them it was easy to see why they're such a popular attraction. They extend for ages, and are a really beautiful and impressive site. I was dropped at the first stopping point along the cliff and decided to walk from there along past another few waterfalls and viewing points before getting picked up further along. It started off as a lovely walk, however i had not anticipated walking along rough paths in the morning as i was leaving the hostel so was wearing flipflops(thongs as they are here)-not so clever, especially when one breaks halfway along the path in the middle of nowhere! So i ventured on,with one flipflop and one barefoot(doing fairly well considering)and then I reached a waterfall.Unfortunately not one I was walking along to see,the path I was to walk on joined with a waterfall...Im not talking gushing torrents here, but it was wet enough!!!still,at least the water didnt ruin a good pair of shoes, and i eventually reached the Leura Cascades, which were very beautiful, and got picked up and driven to Echo Point and the Three Sisters. I then took a trip down the world's steepest railway(!!! it was steeper than Id expected) and back up on cable car over the mountains, getting a gorgeous view.
In the evening on my return to Sydney, I went straight to the Opera House to watch and listen to 'Jazz meets the Symphony'-the sydney symphony orchestra playing arrangements of Classical and Jazz music accompanied by Lalo Schifrin and several other very talented jazz musicians. An absolutely fantastic concert (which ran over by an hour...but noone was complaining!)
Lots of Love xxxxxx
