Finally, some time to sit down and write.... these last few days have been so jam-packed but so much fun - I love Toronto!!
The day I got to the hostel I met some guys who invited me to see the CN tower that night - the tallest free-standing tower in the world, looking over all of Toronto. I bought a 3-in 1 pass - the CN tower, Niagara Falls and an open-top bus tour, all for $75. The CN tower was really fun - at one point I looked over the edge and saw below me a baseball game being played - Toronto Blue Jays vs Mariners I believe - which was pretty cool. There was also a glass floor which made it feel like you were walking over the city - my heart was in my mouth and my legs were shaking so badly! After that we met up with a couple of girls and went to a bar where there was a band playing. When I walked in, the woman was singing Halo - Beyonce and, for any of you who know, me and my brother Daniel rock that song on the guitar.... so it was nice to think of home at that moment!!
The next day we went on a walking tour of the Distillery District - it looks just like Old Town London, very old buildings and very characteristic. There was a street where there were lots of pictures from all over the world that had been taken from outer space which was pretty cool. There was also some sculptures, old cafes and quirky shops which I had fun looking at. Later on my friend Natalie and I met up with my friend Sarah who I met in New York - this is what I love about travelling! Meeting someone randomly and clicking instantly and spending so much time together in a foreign city. We decided to get some wine and go down to the harbour front. It was a gorgeous evening and we got some deck chairs and just sat looking out over Lake Ontario. I was in heaven! We then went for dinner at the Hard Rock (always a classic), and I arranged to meet Sarah the next day at.... NIAGARA FALLS!!!!
Oh. My. Word.
The whole trip was actually so awesome - we went on a bus tour that stopped off at Niagara-On-The-Lake, a vineyard that made ice wine, and we had a wine-tasting session. We then stopped off at the Floral Clock, the Whirlpool and then finally at the falls. Sarah and I went on the Maid of the Mist tour which sails right up to the falls, and got absolutely soaked in the process! We heard amazing stories about how a woman went down the falls in a barrel and lived, and Sarah told me her dad proposed to her mum at the falls! Beautiful!
I decided to drive home with Sarah to Toronto as she was taking her and a couple of friends to a Kiss concert. We had some JD and coke in the car with the music blasting, and her friends calling me 'England' and asking me when I was going to come over and cook them bangers and mash!!
I wish I could carry on with the next few days of my trip but I'm running out of internet time - all I'll say is that for the next post I'll talk about baseball games, stolen beds and long long road trips. Love you all!!!
