G'Day mates...ok so I have lasst spoken about our eventful last night in Surfers Paradise...now we are onto Brisbane...
Friday 4th April..........Surfers Paradise - Brisbane
Check out of my accommodation for 10am and I go to meet Annabel and Helen at the beach, I go to see Backpacker World and try to find out more about changing flights on the way. I browse the shops and see some funky bright orange sunnies that I have to have!! As they will co-ordinate with my orange bikini!! So I purchase them and meet the girls on the beach!! Next we head to a coffee shop and pass the time till the bus arrives at 3pm, I buy a hoodie (yes I am in hot australia but it is a really nice hoodie with surf life saving australia on it!!) and a cool bracelet!
I meet Ali and Rob at the bus stop and also Jenny and Craig a couple that we have seen up and down the coast, the bus is delayed by an hour and a half so that holds us up and we finally get to Brisbane for 5pm!! We check in to Palace Backpackers and its a really old building with one of those cool lifts that you have to slide the door open!! We decide to cook...the kitchen is minging yes, and then we borrow a dvd and chill out in the TV room and watch The Green Mile!! Fun times!! We crash early as we are so wrecked this travelling business is starting to kill me!!
Saturday 5th April
So today we all chill out I go to STA Travel in the morning and the gay guy (he was so cool) sorts out my whole travel issues!! I change my final flight, and book my New Zealand and Fiji flights, plus my whole Fiji trip...all accommodation and food included!! and it all comes to only 800pounds...I was so happy, it was much less than I thought so I was rather excited!! And finally I am destressed as I have 2000pounds left for new zealand which should be plenty!!
I go back to teh hostel, update my blog and then head to sleep...so tired! We all snooze and wake up to wonder around Brisbane...it is a bit boring for the backpacker...no beach is near and it is pretty much a city with not much to do!! We go on a walk, I guide us around the main streets and we go in search of something sweet after our very healthy salad dinner!! We mooch and come across the most amazing place...Pancake Manor...and coincidently it falls on Charlotte Street!! We treat ourselves to $12 pacncakes, I have Bananarama which is cooked bananas, vanilla ice cream and it is all covered in Butterscotch Sauce it was amazing!! Rob had a chocolate and nut option and Ali went for a waffle covered in Butterscotch sauce...it was the most amazing pudding ever, and suprisingly I couldn't finish mine!! Shocking I know!! We head back and I pack ready to leave the next morning!! Ah I hate early mornings!!
Sunday 6th April
Up early again and the driver, Forest, is so lively all we want to do is sleep!! We snooze for a while and then stop off for brekky, I have a yummy greek yogurt and mango yogurt...so good! We then head to a look out point it is a 700m sheer incline and it absolutely kills us all!! Forest, who is the funniest story teller, then fills us in on the Aboriginal Stories, I have to play the Aboriginal boy, Wooloomooloo, and he tells us how the rocks make the stories, with each story having a moral like, look after your family!! We freeze for over an hour listening to him and then head onto Noosa!!
I am so tired but Annabel, Helen and I decide we have to drag ourselves out and we head to the Noosa Marina Market, we catch it just at the end, I buy some bracelets and we mooch around listening to the Jazz Band. We sit with our chips and relax in the chilled atmosphere!! We then head to Noosa National Park and take on the 1.5km walk along the coast watching all the surfers in the waves, ahhh they are amazing!! And so many wipeouts...we reach Dolphin Point and relax for a while before heading back!! Exhausted I have my dinner and then head to bed at about 9am!!
Monday 7th April
The morning in Noosa is horrible, trenchal rain is not so fun!! (escuse my spelling there!!) So we check out and I read some of my book waiting for 12pm to come when we get on our next bus to Hervey Bay...ready for our Fraser Island Adventure!! We leave Koalas, after finding cockroaches in our room and jump on the next bus...!! I meet Ali and Rob who have kindly saved me seat next to them, and I see Jenny and Craig and the french girl Sama!! Its so good how you see so many people, I don't ever feel lonely!! Next we head to Hervey Bay, stopping at Rainbow Beach on the way!! I grab some food...sadly it was not so satisfying and then I buy my oh so cool $3 ponchos...I have no waterproofs and fear that is it rains in Fraser Island I will become absolutely soaked!!
We head onto Hervey Bay, I say bye to Ali and Rob as they leave for their hostel, we booked different trips so I won't be with any of them :( I then head onto Palace Backpackers and see Jordon (one of the lads we met from Melbourne to Sydney) so I spend the whole time chatting with him and we munch away at the $10 all you can eat Dominoes Pizza...I feel so minging after!! I pack up and get chatting to two gilrs, Jess and Kath who have just done their Fraser Island Safari, so I get all the tips of what to take and where to stay from them!! They were lovely girls, hopefully I will see them up the coast somewhere!! I head to sleep aroungd 12am...excited about Fraser, but freaking out about the bed bugs Jordon tells me swarm in the beds :(!!!!
Unfortunately that was rather a boring blog update!! My credit is again running low but I am staying with a family in Cairns (from Sunday 20th April) so as soon as I am there I will update the whole of Fraser Island and the Whitsundays!! Love to all...I promise the next blog in the next few days will be very exciting!! Love to you all xxxxxx
