CAMBODIA!!
so much i want to tell you now even if ive only been together with the gruop for 2 days! i think. i dont really keep tracks on what day it is now!
but i do know i went to see one of the worlds eight wonders today. the Ankor city, or the tempels of ankor. i set the alarm on 03.50 (!), so i didnt get much sleep since i went to bed at 12.00 and it was difficult to sleep when i knew i was getting up earliy. anyway, it was not a prolem at all to get up, i took a shower and meet with the others in the lobby at 04.30. we went to ankor, just 10 minutes away from the city were we are right now, with tok toks. it costed 20 dollars go get at one day pass. it was asolute pich dark out side, the road hade some few lights along it but it didnt give any comfort. we just went straight into the forest! it was almost a surreal thing, there i was, god knows were in the middle of the night, hedding straight in to the forest to an ancient temple that is a bit spokey on the pichtures... i didnt know what to expect at all... and all of a sudden, the tok tok stops. just like that. the driver, a young guy, maybe 17, does his best but nothing happens. after some more tries he manage to get it starting ut the samt thin happes several times during ou way there! anyway, we managed to get to the entrance where the people working thee were ready for us, and the klock was just 05.00 in the morning! around this place there were small food stalls whee people selling the and coffe were pulling us to get us to buy from them. i had a tea with a very strange taste but i really enjoyed it since it was so earliy in the mornig. i needed something. after this we wnet to the ridge, passed the big wall that is right it front of the main tempel, Ankor Wat (wat means temple) where it was dark as well!! i was s*** scared! pitch dark, in an ancisent tempel! glad i wasnt doing this alone, dont know if i wolud have made it. now i just had to continue without hesitation. we continued forward and got to the plaxce ight infront of ankor wat whee theres a lillies pond to take pictures of thesun rise. there was no sun rise! it was cloudy and all of a sudden it was kind of ower!! now pink sun coming up there, no! but i got some good pictures anyway, its just the mitif you see on all the advertasments for Ankor. it fells really ool to be there, to have been to such a famous place. i was very happy to be there at sunise even if it didnt offer such a good wiew as i thought. fo me it was more then ok sine i hav waited to go hee for years. i dont know why ut when i watched it on TV it struch me and hasnt gone out of my memory. its really cool to do that kind of thing you didnt think would come trhe. that it such a wierd thing and so different that its not from this world, but there i was, years later at that strange temple i promissed myself to go to even before i understood where cambodia was on the map. i remember it, how i atually promissed myself to go here before i got intreseted in the rest of the countrys history. it was in uddevalla nd some traveling show was on and it was about Ankor. it was wierd, different strange, and without thinking i felt i had ound a place i really wanted to go to compared to teneriffa and all those other places where people went back then. i remember it becouse it was a time when i felt i didnt wanted to travel but people were talking alout about traveling, and finally i found something i think i would like. and here i am.
been thee, done that!!
after sunrise we went to the most famous temples. since it was a city once, the capital of the Khmer kingdom between 802 to 1432, its impossibe to se all the sights. but we went to Bayon, the temple with to faces and Ta prom, the site where teh temples and coved with tree roots now. this is also the place where the movie Tomb raide, staring Angelina Jolie, was shot. it was really cool, really liked both places. at the BAyon temple three young gils, 5 years old maybe, wee inning around playing. so spokey! in the centre of this place a Budda statue was placed (an original one), dressed in orange munk robe. round it no light colud go thrugh, so to get there i had to walk where it was pitch dark again. i was so scared!! do you understad now that it was a frightening experience or me!? its true, cambodia with alll its history really feaks me out, but its very faciniting. anyway, didnt see much at the budda statue ut that the girls were there, hearing their naked weet feet running around, leaving foot marks on the ground... sureal. just like in the begining of a book or movie when the writeor wants you to ome along oin a story that is to e told. it defenitely was like a scene from a movie. you shoukld have seen it. its so close to what only happens in films and ooks here. it really was like the post card pictures as well. stunning. facinaiting. intimitaiting. divine. The main tempel, the ankor wat, is the iggest religious temple in the hole world. onw of the eight world wonders. my thought when walking round it was that the churches in Europe dont really have anything to ome up with compared with this. and cqan you understand it was buit 700 years ago?!
i was in ankor for aout six hours, wish i colud have stayed longer ut since i hadent had any breakfast i had to eat. i bought some read rom the food stalls, they wee on the side of the ankor wat and there little kids ran around trying to sell you post cards. i felt exhausted and in a lack of energy and coludnt stay even i i wanted to. went back with the tok tok, had some real lunch and sleept until 16.00. i have so many pictures. to many pictures.
during afternoon i walked around the city, its called Siem Riep where we are now and then had dinner with the rest of the gruop. we are 15 all togheter and its just me and a german guy thats they only none english native speakers of the grup. the rest are from England, Scottland and Austrailia.
now, i have to go to bed (and the toilet) so i will try to write some more tomorrow if i have time. this is fun!!
