We didn't bother setting the alarm clock last night, we were so shattered from trying to find our hostel yesterday that we fell straight to sleep and didn't wake up until 9am this morning, which for us is a very long lay in! Once we were out of bed we started our washing, finally we would have clean clothes again! Only problem was, we had nothing to wash it with. Luckily Chris managed to get free powder from a guy working at the hostel, he seemed pretty surprised that we didn't have our own but we haven't needed it until now. Once the washing was on we started planning what we were going to do for the next few days. When our whole trip ends we will have to fly home from Singapore so we don't want to do everything this time.
We decided to visit the Singapore Flyer today, which is basically the same as the London Eye except it's much bigger, standing at 165 meters tall and it takes half hour to go all the way around. To be honest neither of us were that excited to go on it but we both wanted to judge the height of the bungee in New Zealand which is 134 meters high!!
On our way to the station we passed fast food restaurants and because we were staying in China Town they all sold Chinese food! Ooh the food smelled so good that we couldn't stop ourselves from going in to have a look at what was on offer. The food was so cheap and it looked so yum, neither of us were actually hungry but the fat kids inside us screamed out for it so we bought a bowlful each. We had sweet and sour fish and crispy beef! It was just like the Chinese food we get back at home. Its strange, we walked around for ages in Hong Kong and didn't come across a single place selling Chinese food, well not like we get at home. We stuffed our fat faces and licked our sticky fingers when we finished. It tasted just as good as it smelled.
Once we were on the train it only took half hour to get to the Flyer. Getting there was really easy and the trains were so nice. I guess they are similar to the London Underground but they're a lot cleaner and they have more space. The best thing was the fact that there was wifi and phone reception on them all! Did the tickets cost much? Nope, they cost next to nothing, London Underground are ripping people off!
As soon as we came out from the station we could see the wheel peering over some trees and buildings. It looked very high and our expectations were high too. We walked over to the ticket office and were offered different types of tickets like a champagne and chocolate flight, the standard flight and a wedding flight! How rubbish would that be getting married in only half hour! We bought the standard ticket and joined the que. In front of us was a small family and they had chosen a champagne and chocolates flight! It looked yum, especially the tower of cup cakes!
When we reached the height of the bungee jump we both stood as close as we could to the glass wall and looked down, we even held our arms stretched out to try and imagine the feeling we will have just before we jump! It made my skin tingle and gave me goosebumps!!
By the time we reached the top we were a little bored and were just waiting to get off. Although the view was pretty impressive, we both agreed that the view from the London Eye was much nicer and a lot more interesting. We spent more time watching the family eat their chocolates and cake!
After getting off the Singapore Flyer we decided to take a walk around China Town market. The brightly coloured streets were very busy bursting with tourists. There were loads of stalls selling cheap souvenirs but most of it was rubbish so we didn't buy anything, instead we sat in a bar right in the middle of the street and people watched for an hour. We shared a huge beer and mixed it with lemonade. Some Chinese guy sitting on the table behind us was fascinated by our shandy mix.
Eventually we got a bit bored so started to head back to our hostel. Along the way we stopped for more of that delicious chinese food we had earlier. This time we took the food away and ate it in our room. We had sweet and sour fish, lemon chicken, bean sprouts, rice and I had some greens. It was so delicious, I can see ourselves going back for more while we are here!
We are really excited about visiting Singapore Zoo tomorrow. Apparently it's one of the worlds best zoos, so we have both been looking forward to it.
