We didn't want to drink any more so we decided not to spend any longer in Kuta as thats all there really is to do here. We went down for breakfast and got talking to a local guy selling his paintings. They were really good so we ended up buying one for only 200,000 rupees. After checking out we went to a bar to sit and have a drink and find out about our next stop, Ubud. We had already missed the bus so we had to take a taxi there which Chris got for 200,000 rupees. Most people he asked tried their luck and wanted to charge us 300,000 rupees!
We left at 2:10pm and got to Ubud just over an hour later. I had read that it was the art capital of Bali and it was obviously true, we passed loads of pottery and sculptures and shops full of fantastic paintings as we came into the city. We both said we would love to come back to Bali just to go shopping! I'd also love to join a yoga or try a meditation class here but I don't want to go on my own and theres no chance Chris will join me no matter how much I beg him.
When we pulled into a small car park a man came over and spoke to our driver, perhaps they knew each other and he was expecting us. He told us he had a room available in his hotel not too far away and at a price we wanted, so we followed him down the road for about 600 meters until we came to his place, Ubud Permai Bungalows. The hotel was situated above some shops, it wasn't a building, it was a lovely garden area with bungalows stretched out through it. They had a lovely swimming pool and water features too, not what we were expecting at all. We were also pleased with the location, we were staying right next to the monkey forest!
We put our stuff down and chilled out, I wasn't feeling very well and suddenly had a bad tummy so we decided to stay in our room for the rest of the day and then watched a film before going to bed.
