Week 13- Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) Day 4
We had a touristy day today :) taking in some of the popular sites in KL. We jumped on the train to head to the Batu caves, love how easy it is to travel KL. I took 2 trains and cost us about a pound! The Batu caves wasn't the best caves we have seen whilst travelling! Once we got there I was told I wasn't allowed up as I was wearing shorts and had to pay £2 to rent a scarf to cover my lower half. Although I could see a lady walking up the stairs wearing a short dress (the same length as my shorts practically and she wasn't covered). I was having none of it arguing with the lady for about 5 minutes before they let me have the scarf for nothing. Had to walk up about 300 stairs with naughty monkeys causing trouble all the way up. They weren't the friendliest of monkeys either, grabbing people's food and bags. The caves (if you could call it a cave) wasn't worth the 300 steps we walked up and unfortunately there wasn't much of a view up the top either, not to sure whether that was because of the mist or just because it wasn't a great view. But it was our exercise for the day :). After that we headed back to KL sentral and grabbed some lunch. We both had tomato soup which was yummy and fish and chips (very Malaysian) haha!
After lunch we went to the bus station downstairs to ask for information about the airport bus for tomorrow. We then made our way over to the Petrona Towers which were pretty incredible. They have a huge shopping centre surrounding them. So we went window shopping for a while and we came across a M&S that sold shortbread biscuits! I was over the moon! There was loads of really nice shops, it was torture walking round not being able to buy anything! We tried to wait until sunset to get a picture of the towers lit up but the sun was taking ages to set so we got a snack for dinner then headed back to the hostel. After our first train ride we came out of the Station and could still see the towers and they were lit up so we stopped for a quick photo then carried on. Didn't take us too long to get back but we were both desperate for showers and exhausted. We had done so much walking today, we practically crawled back to the hostel.
We got in showered and had our snack. By that time it was pretty much time for bed as we had a early start in the morning. Whilst brushing our teeth of a night time you could see the KL tower lit up from the balcony it looked so pretty.
