Week 10- Laos (Luang Probang) Day 1
After a long and bumpy journey we finally arrived in Laung Probang at around 5am. None of us had got much sleep so we were all exhausted. We had pretty much been off roading on a double decker bus for the past 6 hours. Once we arrived into the bus station we got a tuk tuk straight to our hostel. However, we were unable to check in until 12, so we had a long old wait.
We relaxed downstairs on the internet for a couple of hours and then headed into town around 7.30am to get some breakfast and to have a little explore. The town is lovely, it has a clear French influence. We headed to a bakery (obviously) which Gemma had found on trip advisor. We all had quiche, which was super yummy, even if it is a bit random for breakfast. We then walked down the river front which is very picturesque back to our hostel. We had a few more hours to waste before we checked in.
We planned to go to a swimming pool to relax for the afternoon, however, there were huge thunderstorms so that idea was written off! First things first we got our really smelly washing done from while we were in the jungle. We then walked back into town and booked our next bus and also a trip to Kuang Si Falls (a beautiful waterfall) tomorrow. Seeing as there was so much rain and we were limited with things to do me and Katy decided it was only right to have a full body oil massage (especially after our trek). This was lovely and we were so relaxed after.
By this time we were a bit peckish again so we decided to have lunch on the river front, luckily the rain stopped for half an hour so we could enjoy the view. Katy had seen the visitor centre had good reviews on trip advisor so we set out to find that. It turned out to be a bit of a wild goose chase and we could hear thunder so we were scared we were going to get drenched. Just before we gave up looking for it we suddenly came across it, although to our much disappointment it had just closed! Typical! So we quickly headed back to our hostel so we didn't get caught in the rain!
Back at the hostel we freshened up and relaxed for a bit before heading out to dinner and the night market. We done well because none of us had a nap, even after our long bus journey! We decided to have an Indian for dinner (the first one since India) we ordered a feast between us and were all in a food coma by the end. We had a look around the night market which was really pretty, the road is closed off and all the stalls have lights. We did a bit of bargaining for a couple of bits and Gemma got an ice cream before we headed back to our hostel and headed to bed.
