Well it's been a month and I thought it was about time I let you all know what I've been up to and where I've been - which is alot and everywhere!
It'll have to be in installments as there's a lot to catch up before I head out to borneo.
To start at the beginning - Singapore.
Here was more about the celebration of me arriving on my travels with Roz and Denise...and we did it in fine style that's for sure! early morning finishes as it appears noone really wants to go to bed til at least 3am! 4 bottles of the veuve clicquot bubbles and a early dawn finish the next morning! Singers and the SCC hockey lot are fantastic company! club street sure does know how to keep the girls entertained!
I had so much fun seeing the city walking about and doing touristy stuff with my camera round my neck and rucksack on my back. We went on the London eye equivalent which gave us a great bird's eye view of the city and it's expanse and overlooked where Singapore staged their first F1 race and where the pits were - pretty cool standing on the starting line looking up the track! The Singapore sling was fruity but any budget anyone was on would be out the window the amount they charged - even at london prices!! so we definitely made sure what we lacked in liquid we made up for in monkey peanuts! OCD me was a little baffled by the chucking of the shells on the floor - I wanted to get a brush and sweep them up into neat little piles, but I soon got over that!
Singers as a place itself was so clean and is still expanding with cranes scattered everywhere, but devoid of any real soul and character. For me it was definitely about the people that made it special and memorable!
From only a couple of days and 20 lengths of the swimming pool Denise packed me off on a luxury bus in the rain with reclining seats and table service (oh what it is to be a backpacker!:-)).
So I swapped one city for another in the form of Kuala Lumpur. Here is where the real journey starts. As a friend said to me before I left - remember, look forward don't look back .... and I haven't done since I stepped on that plane. Singers was a great starting point with Roz but KL is where I got into travelling mode.
