22nd to 29th March - Boston, MA
After a 5 hour train journey on a very comfortable Amtrak train I arrived in Boston on a beautiful sunny day with a monster hangover!! Nice one! I walked up to my hotel the Boston Park Plaza and checked in. Had a glass of wine in the hotel bar and then headed for bed.
The next day I checked out and walked up to my new accomodations, the YWCA Berkeley Residences. A hostel just down from Boston Common. It was basic but satisfactory, a far cry from my previous two hotels but comfortable just the same. I had my own room so felt secure. So my week in Boston has consisted of miles and miles of walking, the weather has been just fantastic so I have taken advantage of it and got my walking shoes on again. Day one I went exploring, found the cheers bar and went in for a beer!
I've had a few lazy days, doing a bit of laundry at the hostel and organising travel and accomodation for the rest of my time in the States. I spent a day up at the New England Aquarium and caught a 3D movie at the Imax. I've taken a walk all the way around the top of Boston following the Harbour from the Aquarium all the way around to the Longfellow Bridge which took me 5 hours but was well worth it.
I had a funny incident one evening whilst going out for dinner, I was walking to find a restaurant and there is a bar just at the end of the road where I am staying, so I thought i'd pop in for a glass of wine before dinner. I walked in ordered a glass of wine and then took a few moments to realise I was the only female in the whole place, turns out it was Boston's only Gay Sports Bar!! Anyway, I sat at the bar a little emabarassed and finished my glass of wine and then headed on to a restaurant!!!!
So tonight i'm going to the cinema to watch 21 which is out today and then tomorrow I am moving on to Philadelphia until Wednesday.
