After Washington DC I then went on to Naples in Florida for 10 days. Staying with some great people, Kenny and Eileen who I met when I came here in January. It was a very chilled out time and chance for me to unwind after the hectic sightseeing and drinking of DC.
I generally lounged about, sat on the beach, went fishing (well I didn't do much fishing more sunbathing and reading) I met Nicola here who is currently living in Sydney and was also visiting. At this point I was feeling quite home sick and not particularly looking forward to getting to Australia, Nicola soon changed my mind about it!
I went to work with Eileen one day, she looks after peoples holiday homes in Naples, some very rich people have second homes in Naples and I got to see a truly magnificent house! It was huge and very expensive, oh how the other half live.
I had lots of lovely meals out and some great days on the beach, I really had a chance to wind down! But also got really sunburnt too! Doh! I had to prepare myself for the mighty journey I was about to embark on getting to Australia from Florida.
I left on the Saturday 10th May at 6am, my first flight took me to Chicago, a 2 and a half hour flight followed by a 2 hour wait for my next flight to LA. That flight took 4 and half hours and then I had an 8 hour wait in LAX for my flight to Sydney. LAX is not the nicest of airports, it was really hot and they appear to not have any aircon in the airport!!!!
Finally after bugging loads of people on MSN and messing around on FB the 8 hours flew by and I was getting on my plane to Sydney. I was quite daunted by the 14 and half hour flight as this is the longest I have ever flown before and I am not the greatest of fliers!!!
Anyway I was exhausted so once we had taken off and I had eaten I managed to get 7 hours sleep and woke up to find I only had 6 hours left! So I watched 4 movies back to back and the time seemed to go pretty quickly. I finally landed in Sydney Airport at 8am on Monday morning after 31 hours of travelling and completely losing Sunday altogether! Good job the 11th May has no great importance to me!!!!
