Hello...
Since our last email we have travelled to Kandy and stopped at the elephant orphanage. It was overwhelming with over 60 elephants. The little babies are so cute! We watched feeding time and the babies being fed by bottles. Also bathing time at the local river, which was something else. After that we went to the Royal Botanical Gardens where we saw some of the most beautiful and unusual trees and plants. We stayed the night in Kandy, in a hotel with a view over the city.
The next day we visited Hindu temples where we were allowed to watch a special relgious ritual before a scenic drive through the mountains. Here we made a stop at a tea factory (not visited by tourists!) and got to see first hand the tea making process. We later visted a childrens orphange run by the village monks...an interesting and sad experience to say the least. Ever drank whisky with a Buddhist monk?...we're not saying anything! stayed in a lovely little place in the jungle where we had monkeys at our feet!
The next day we climbed the famous Cittadel of Sigiriya rock. We walked up a narrow iron staircase that was attached to the bare rock face! our legs were like jelly!! We travelled back to Marawila that day then went shopping the next day in Majestic City, Colombo. KFC and Veggi burgers!!! Spent yesterday (sat) at the poolside of Club Palm Bay again, loving the luxury. We have only a few days chilling before our flight to Singapore!!!
