Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your messages. Helen I would love to think that you and Mum would make it but think you would be way-laid by the first bar and wouldn't get much further than that. Especially seen as you can get two Vodka and Tonics/Diet Coke for about 1.50 .
Anyway..... so Saigon was probably our favourite place so far. It was CRAZY, more mopeds that you can even imagine, just crossing the street became quite an art form. We had a lovely hotel (pictures to come) and tried to tear ourselves away from the air conditioning every now and then to get some food... We ended up having an English Breakfast that rivalled most we have had at home. The whole place had such a great atmosphere, amazing markets, shops, parks where it seemed like the whole of Saigon came after work to work out, there was mass aerobics sessions, badminton, walking, footie c*** games (very difficult to explain, but spence has bought one so he'll show you when we get back) that went on until about 10pm. Mental, but now we know why they are all so skinny!
From Saigon we headed to Nha Trang up the coast for some serious R&R, too many cities and too many sites, all we wanted to do was lay on the beach! Our hotel was fab and owned by a couple who spoke NO english at all, so we had to use the waitress of the restaurant below to translate. Sufficiently rested we decided it was time to move on to Hoi An but not before we decided it would be a good idea to head to the local salon so Spence could get his hair cut and I could sort my bikini line. We paid about 4 pound for both and lets just say the level of skill was reflected in the price. Spence is convinced the girl couldn't even hold the scissors properly, although I cannot comment as I was too busy having the most excruciating experience of my life upstairs. At one point there was actually two women at doing it at the same time. Lets just say I struggled to walk for a few days...
So to beautiful Hoi An.... We arrived early morning, straight off the sleeper bus- Which ended up being fab. (basically a bus filled with reclining bunk beds. However they initially tried to put us at the bottom of the back of the bus, this area was five beds next to each other with no ability to sit up, and thus resembled more of a coffin than a bed, so obviously I kicked up a bit of a fuss and we didn't fancy spending 10 hours down there!) and spent the next few days exploring this amazing little town that is filled with tailorsand shoe makers.
I had a great birthday, with an amazing meal at a great restaurant with cocktails and wine (pics to come mum...) We also have finally finished having our suits made, after what felt like endless fittings in a place where it is too hot to ever wear a suit!
So we are now waiting for our bus to take us to Hue, where we plan to stay for a few days before taking the Reunification Express up to Hanoi, where I am sure we will update you again.
Hope you are all well (especially Jess and Belles)
Lots of Love, Charlie and Spence xxx
P.S. We got a moped out for a few days and Spence successfully taught me how to ride it (kind of....) Don't worry Hoi An is very small and quiet, not at all like Saigon and we had a great time buzzing around and down to the beach.
