So, when I set off from home a few days ago I was expecting to be firmly settled in to Pokhara and be well rested and prepared for my adventure to begin. In actual fact the adventure began long before that when I turned up at the airport to find out that because of an accident at the airport in Kathmandu (luckily nobody was seriously hurt) my entire journey had been rerouted! After waving goodbye to my (unbelievably calm given the ccircumstances) family at security, I had a quick flight down to London where I met a girl who was off to Sydney for a year but had just realised as we took off that she still had her mum's bank card! Having landed at Heathrow and by some miracle not getting lost, the 12 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur was surprisingly nice! I managed to change to a window seat, and managed to watch Big Hero 6 (genuinely made me laugh out loud, if you haven't seen it, watch it!), Casino Royale and about 7 episodes of friends, as well as sample a surprisingly spicy beef lasagne that definitely did not make my eyes water. At all.
When we finally landed in Kuala Lumpur I stood chatting to Nabin, a lovely Nepali guy whose flights to Kathmandu had been rerouted from Manchester. It drew closer and closer to the time our flight was supposed to be leaving. Then five minutes after. Then ten. Then boom, flight delayed until Saturday 7th March! So here we are! Luckily we've been put up in a hotel for a couple of nights with food as well, and it's nice to have made a few friends to explore with! It's so hot and humid here, and I don't have a clue what the time is any more, but I'm in a beautiful place with lovely people and there's a beer chilling in the fridge - cheers!
