Well some time has passed and a new year has dawned since I left Darwin and much of whats happened has been spending time with family over the festive period. As I arrived in Adelaide from Darwin I took the chance to catch up with my family and generally rest up for a while.
Christmas was spent here with my cousins, Yvette, David, Gary, his partner and also with my aunt and uncle and was a brilliant day just laid back enjoying the plentiful food, sun and bloody flies!
On the 28th Dec, I jumped on a plane to Perth to see the next round of family staying in a town down the coast of perth called Mandurah. Again, I didnt do a huge amount until New Years Eve where we had a quiet celebration watching the fireworks.
New Years Day my cousin steve took me to the Perth Cup horse racing and boy was it fun! This is the social event of the year for Perthites and I'm not one to miss out on the party like my brother did the year before. Everyone was dressed to look their best (in my case what I could find in my rucksack) and the ladies really did look their best. Them there were some fine fillies! In the end we had a great day, had plenty of booze and sun and I lost about $50. I think the horse I backed was shot that night which I think showed justice was done.
On the 5th I treated Steve to the XXX Beach Cricket contest which is between Australia, England and New Zealand. The event was held at Scarborough beach, just south of Perth and again was a great day out in the sun and we proceeded to get hammered that night. On the way back today we stopped it Freemantle to have a look around and its a great town and where I hope to stay for my last days in Western Australia before heading to Melbourne.
