... The traffic refused to budge, our taxi driver had no choice but to leave us in a barrio which one could have mistaken for a dirty back alley somewhere in Abu Dhabi! Rachelle seemed utterly fearful and honestly I didn't feel that safe myself, but alas I've been in worse predicaments. We had no idea where our hotel was and we were witnessing some form of raid by the police, so we didn't have much time to sit around and really plan out our next move. Walk we did, towards the area that seemed to house the greatest population, our eyes ever watchful for a friendly and honest face. When soliciting information in such areas I've learnt that one must select the source with great scrutiny.
Scrutiny pays off... A very helpful young man goggled directions and we set off on a couple of kilometre walk to the hotel. We were walking faster than the cars were moving it was madness!
The closer we got to the hotel the more beautiful the landscape became. And when we finally found our hotel it was as though all out Christmases had come at once :-) it was the most well appointed establishment, our room was heaven and they had a LIFT! Lol
A quick dash to the local markets and we were set for a night of relaxation in luxury :-)
Best nights sleep in Europe so far...
