Chan & Dan's Travels
Hello Everybody,
How are you all doing? We are fine, had a really lovely week with Tiffany & Jason. Thought we would tell you all the stuff that we did with them.
The first few days I had to work so we left them to their own devices to see the things that we had already seen, Opera House, Botanical Gardens CBD etc. These days we see this sort of thing all the time!! So they had fun doing that.
Last Wednesday as you can see from the pictures we hired a car (was such a nice change from our banger!) and drove to the Hunter Valley which is the oldest wine region in Australia. We had a really good day there tasting all the wine. The only problem was that the weather was not that great, quite cold in fact! But it is nearing the end of Summer, aparently March 1st is officially the start of Autumn, but it doesn't really make that much of a difference as it is usually still very hot up until May!
Then on Saturday we had a really nice day. Got the ferry from Woolwich (by our house) to Circular Quay, then got another ferry out to Manly where we spent the day on the beach. It was really nice weather, not a cloud in the sky. The only shame was that they closed the sea off (!!) due to all the Blue Bottle jelly fish that came in. They were right up, nearly on the actual beach. Every few minutes the life guard would come over the tannoy a la Mr Montague and say "Ladies and Gentlemen please be aware that there are now alot of Blue Bottles which have come up to the shore, if you enter the water, it is at your own risk. People who have small children and do not want them screaming for the whole afternoon, do not let them enter the water. The only thing you can do for these stings is remove the tenticles and wash the area in fresh water. You will have a horrible pain for an hour but a dull ache for 48 hours" Which was annoying as it meant that we couldn't go into the water. We left Manly and got the ferries home, and had a BBQ then went to Darling Harbour for the evening. Went to a bar called Bungalow 8 which was really nice. Although there was some confusion as to wheather you were allowed to wear thongs (flip flops, yes we get confused all the time!!!) in there but after looking us up and down and acertaining that we were not the fighting kind! Were allowed in! Phew!
Then on Sunday we were all tired so we went for lunch in Glebe, which is a really nice suburb of Sydney to a bar called...wait for it...the Otto bar! Then we came home and had a few drinks in the garden and watched some DVDs.
Then on Monday we took them to the airport where they flew to Brisbane. So now it's back to normal. We only have five weeks left in Sydney! It has gone really quickly! We have been here for three months now so we are ready to move on, as we have literally exhausted Sydney and its surroundings! We are looking forward to getting that campervan and getting on the road to explore more of Australia! Will post more stuff soon, Hope that everyone is ok, Lots of Love Dan & Chan xxxxxxxxx
