We arrived in Pai last night after the hardest journey either of us have ever done. We started at 4:30pm getting picked up from our guest houuse in Luang Prabang in Laos and we finally set off from the bus station at 6:30pm. We were on dirt tracks through the mountains until 8am the next morning when we arrived at the Thai border (we were kept awake all night by the drivers music). After a tuk-tuk and a ferry ride we were in Thailand. We got another tuk-tuk to the bus atation and spent the next 5 hours heading to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. After that we had another 3 hours on minibus to get here finally at 8pm, nearly 28 houurs later. To make it worse I had been up most of the night before with a dodgy tummy so I was worried about getting on the bus in the first place.

We spent today doing nothing apart from lounging round the pool and reading. We have a couple of busy days coming up now because we are going white water rafting, trecking and elephant riding before we leave here.
