Well it all worked out and here we are in boston. After landing on Saturday we picked up our "compact" car which is a ford focus saloon. The girl behind the desk couldn't believe we were driving it to LA even after we explained that the American version of compact is not the same as in the UK! We then drove to our hotel in Brockton which is 18 miles south of Boston and a little dodgy in places!
We've used the bus and metro to get to downtown Boston yesterday and walked around the freedom trail which takes you past many historical buildings and landmarks-geeky we know but it's free!! It's also a good way to orient yourself as you just keep following the red line-any idiot can do it! Mark made us walk up the 294 steps to the top of the Bunkers Hill Monument in the 30 degree heat - apparantly the view from the top was worth it!? I was too busy trying to breathe....
Weather has been glorius but rain is forecast for the next few days and we leave tomorrow and we are camping for next couple of nights just outside Washington DC. Too expensive to stay in the city itself but we'd like to go and see the White House at the very least.
So far travelling has been a ball but let's see after two nights camping!?
