Ooook, so now i'm actually in Roma. It's beautiful, though i haven't had much time to see or do a lot. I'm on my own until tomorrow, when people who are supposed to be in my group are scheduled to arrive. Traveling alone is cool, but I think things would be easier if I was with someone else, particularly because I'm a girl, I don't speak Italian, and I have no idea where anything is or where I'm going.
Soon I think I'll try to take the bus somewhere, and hopefully I'll make it back... at some point. Contrary to what people have told me, I'm finding that English isn't really spoken that much here. If you look like you're not understanding the Italian that's being spoken to you, they'll first try French, and if you don't speak that, then maybe Spanish, but English doesn't really seem to cross their minds. I'm getting along pretty well speaking Spanish and looking apologetic.
I'll be in Roma for a few more days, and then I take an overnight ferry from the south, and then go sailing for a few days around Corfu.Â
